It’s Sunday and the sun is out shining bright with blue skies and fluffy white clouds, so a short walk to The Smawthorne Marsh Project is in order Since my last visit a couple of weeks ago, things have really started to happen there, the trees are blossoming lovely.

The birds are tweeting and the wildlife is all around, the marsh looks great, the bird hut getting taken advantage of by the birds, The Smawthorne Marsh Project team have also been busy as there were a couple of new benches for marsh visitor to rest on and admire the beautiful scenery, it is truly a hidden gem in Castleford, what a habitat for the wildlife of Castleford and is starting to be like an RSPB Reserve. We had a walk right round the Marsh and for once saw no evidence of any fly tipping which is good to know.

Further round the Marsh at the side of the black and white flats the wildlife is amazing, we came across a Heron (didn’t get a chance to take a photo though) then there were squirrels and lots of ducklings all enjoying the sun and floating in the marsh water. I did get some great shots of those they are in the album below. All in all this was a pleasant and great visit and it is fabulous to see it transforming week by week by the local people of Castleford.
